Hi Friends,
We've got some big news for you.
We've recently discovered that our Thursday market is competing with a few other local markets in the area.
Because of this, we have decided to change the market day from Thursdays to Tuesdays.
Our first market will be TUESDAY, May 5th.
Please watch this page for more information as the date nears!
Also, if you're a vendor, and would like to participate, please let us know! We'd love to have you!

We're looking forward to a other great year, but we need more vendors!

We'll also be accepting a limited number of crafters/artisans for this year's market.

New market vendor: Moose Mountain Farm!

Tina Nason has sent us this wonderful description of their farm in Brookfield.

We are a family owned and operated farm, raising our ten children to appreciate this natural way of life. What began as momma's love for cows and the need to feed our growing family has turned into Moose Mountain Farm. Although we are not certified organic we only use composted manure and Neptune's Harvest Organic Fertilizers, which we are a distributor for as well.
We are currently milking three cows; Jersey/ShorthornX, Purebred Jersey and a Jersey/GuernseyX. These girls give us incredible milk that we use for drinking as well as yogurt, butter, and cheese.
We offer starter plants in the spring and vegetables in season, free range chicken, forest fed pork, pastured turkey, our own ground beef, maple syrup, farm fresh eggs, local honey, all natural care products, and lots of baked goods. Check us out on Facebook at Moose Mountain Farm.
The farm has grown and flourished quickly. We are, at present, caring for a couple hundred laying hens, 165 broiler chickens at different stages, 7 piglets, 25 guinea keets and our newest additions to the farm, 5 ducklings.
We thank the Lord for giving us the vision and strength to live this agrarian lifestyle. We are thankful for the financial support from our customers and encouragement to keep on farming!
We are delighted to welcome them to the Northwood Farmers Market!

New England Food Policy Report

The new report, New England Food Policy: Building a Sustainable Food System, is a call to action. It provides a critical policy focus to existing work across the region to build a food system in New England that is healthy, economically vibrant, just, environmentally sustainable, and resilient.

Download the report now at http://www.newenglandfoodpolicy.org.

Fortunately, according to the recent 2012 Census of Agriculture, in every New England state the number of farms and the amount of land in farming increased from 2007 to 2012. What’s more, in some of these states, the number of young farmers grew as well. Throughout New England, many new and veteran farmers alike are working to feed our region while responsibly stewarding our land. But they need sound policies that supports their efforts — policies that can allow New England to capitalize on the opportunity to build a sustainable food system.

New Englanders deserve healthy food that supports our communities and environment. You have the power to tell your policymakers what has to change to make that happen.Take the first step today by reading and sharing our new report.

Keepin' It Local Market is OPEN!

We are open!!!

We currently have our farm raised meats, raw honey, bee pollen, maple syrup and gluten free granola.

We are also scouting for more local products to sell in our store. If anyone knows a farmer or friend that makes or grows local products we'd love to meet and talk with you! We are hoping to stick with a healthier more organic base of products, but are considering conventional products as well. Please email, call or stop by!

Also we are curious which local foods and farms you already buy from to give us an idea of what products to carry. We'd love to make your commute shorter and help you still eat that great farm fresh food!

Hope to see you soon!
Cheers,
Jesika & Bobby

Last market of the 2013 summer season!

A drizzly day for the last market of this year's summer season.  Red Manse was there for CSA pickup and the Root Seller had a wide variety of products: maple syrup and sugar, dried beans, eggs, potatoes and fresh pulled carrots by the bucket load!  What a great year it has been!  We've met a lot of new people, did some presentations on healthy cooking and eating, and as always, got to see old friends and meet new ones.

See you in the spring!  Have a great winter and don't forget to check here for news of winter markets in the area.

Farmers Market Studies Released in New Hampshire

We think it is fair to say that people are well pleased by their farmers markets.
In the survey of farmers market patrons, researchers found that the majority of customers spend between $26-50 per market visit, 77 percent travel fewer than 10 miles to their farmers market, and 46 percent shop at their local farmers market once per week.
You might even say we love them.
