Harvest Time

Cooler weather signals a welcome change in seasons – Autumn is here, and the fall crops are in.  Come join friends and neighbors Thursday afternoon at the Northwood Farmers Market (corner of Routes 4, 202, 9, and 43) from 3 to 6:30.  We have the freshest local apples, cider, pumpkins, winter squash, potatoes, and all the fall classics grown by our stellar group of local farmers, in addition to free-range beef and poultry, award-winning honey, maple products, fresh mushrooms, soaps, goats-milk cheese, pastries, and many other confections.  Enjoy the harvest!

Strawberries, lots of strawberries

Warren Farm in Barrington, one of our great vendors, has lots of strawberries, so many that if you call ahead and buy more than 10 pints, they will take 50 cents off the $3.25 price per pint.
These are small and very sweet, a variety that produces all summer.

Healthy Living Day

Pictures from Healthy Living Day are here.  We had a new maple products vendor, Folsom's Sugar House from Chester, trying the market out.  Also, not pictured, was the new fitness center going in at the Northwood Garage complex.

Another lovely summer day.

Passport to NH Bounty

New Hampshire Eat Local Month, celebrated throughout August, is a collaboration of the NH Department of Agriculture, Markets, and Food and dozens of businesses, individuals, and groups throughout the state. New this year is the Passport to Local Farms Weekend, August 28-29. Passport to Local Farms is a statewide open house including almost 60 participating farms.
The event is interactive and invites visitors to obtain an official "passport" to collect stamps at each farm visited during that weekend. Those who collect four or more stamps are eligible to submit their passports for a prize drawing in September. Many of these farms will include free samples and opportunities to purchase NH grown fruits, veggies, dairy and more!
It's easy to get started. Click for a Passport and a list of some of the great raffle prizes.
